Iby's Descent
My Ludum Dare 48 Entry
The idea for this game is that you play as a sister in search of her brother, sadly I just didn’t have time to get the story into the game. All you have to do is descend the level and find a door, which will lead you to a newly generated level- I won’t lie, the way that works is a little sketchy, but it does work. Chests give you coins (which you can’t actually do anything with!), and sometimes they give you an extra heart.
Controls:
A, D or Left/Right Arrows - Move
W or Up Arrow - jump (double and triple) + Climb Ladders
Space - fire magic wand
I originally wanted to have the ability to further increase the number of extra jumps you have. But it all got a bit tricky by the end, so decided to drop it. I also wanted different levels to have different colour palettes, but again… tricky! The levels are all procedurally generated, so there is sometimes a few issues with getting around unharmed, but there is always a path. Each time you complete a level, the bonus is that everything resets - including hearts. Let’s just call that a feature!

Nice one, Luke. In the beginning I thought the blue spikes might have been water, but one piece of pain solved that. Nice music too.
Nice and smooth platforming with good controls. Cool maps. Very enjoyable :)
Cheers Mr Wirehead :D
I think I’ll put a little extra work into it. Get it to a more playable state before it ends up forgotten on the shelf!
I actually really like this as a concept! Not much to do, but the music, endless proc-gen levels and blindy leaping down holes to try get to the bottom of the level was cool! I also think the magic wand effects look really nice.
Maybe you could do a post-jam release? 👀
I’m thinking a little extra work should go into it. I had a few ideas that I just didn’t have time for which would have made it far more interesting. Most of all it would have given a purpose to the game!
I was pretty happy with the full health on reload bug... I mean, feature.
Cheers for playing EAtkin :D
